Life Coaching is For

Young Adults

Life as a young adult can be very challenging. These are the years of transition from childhood to adulthood. Young adults can feel suddenly cast into the adult world and made to manage social expectations, finances, work, schedules, relationships, deadlines, school, and more.

Parents & Families

Parent Coaching is one of the best ways to help your child feel secure, develop resilience, and believe in themselves. We, as parents, with the best intentions, often do not realize how we are impacting our children. Parents of children with ADHD and/or executive function issues have additional challenges requiring patience and energy.

Life Coaching

Based on Neuroscience

Sense of Self

The reflective inquiry process of coaching actually develops neurons in the brain to help you gain a stronger sense of self. I am always mindful in sessions to maintain a sense of who you are; not just what you want to do. We all have an innate need, since infancy, to see ourselves reflected in others and in the world. Self-awareness is essential for making transformative life changes.

Sense of Safety

I hold a safe space for self-exploration. I am not an accountability coach who holds you responsible. Instead, we explore together what works and what does not. The “accountability only” style of coaching can activate the “survival brain,” which can cause overwhelm, and shut down the “learning brain.” I pay attention to maintaining a safe space so you can engage your “learning brain.”

Positivity

As a coach, I inspire in my clients a positive “re-framing” of specific situations. Encouraging a positive viewpoint in parts of the session (not all) opens the mind to possibilities, improves executive functioning, and activates areas of the brain associated with motivation. Positivity inspires dreams and aspirations in the brain and in the soul.

Synchrony

Studies have shown that when people interact, each person’s brain waves synchronize. This area of science is sometimes called collective neuroscience. During our time together, we create a space of co-creativity where you can really get to the heart of what is in your way and how to improve your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Coaching?

The ICF (International Coaching Federation) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity, and leadership.

We all have dreams to which we aspire, and challenges we are striving to overcome. At times, we may feel stuck. Partnering with a coach can change your life, setting you on a path to greater personal and professional fulfillment.

As the client, it is your responsibility to bring ideas about what you would like to explore to each coaching session. As your coach, I will be partnering with you and walking alongside you on your journey to self-wisdom, and eventually attaining what you would like for your life.

What is NOT Coaching?

  • Coaching is not therapy.

Therapy deals with issues originating in the past. During a coaching session, although we may delve into the past a bit, we focus on the future; what you want for your future and how you would like to attain that vision.

  • Coaching is not consulting.

Although as part of my coaching practice, I can provide consulting advice and mentoring, the main purpose of coaching is not to give advice as a consultant would.

  • Coaching is not giving advice.

Instead, as coach and client, we work together to uncover your hidden truths, strengths, and talents, finding your most desired path in life.

  • Coaching is not like athletic coaching.

An athletic coach is often seen as an expert who guides and directs the behavior of individuals or teams based on the coach’s greater experience and knowledge. Players listen to an athletic coach and do what the coach says. Although professional life coaches possess wisdom and experience, they work with clients to determine the direction of a coaching session. Additionally, professional coaching, unlike athletic development, does not focus on behaviors that are being executed poorly or incorrectly. Instead, the focus is on identifying opportunity for development based on individual strengths and capabilities.

How do I know if Coaching is right for me?

Coaching may be beneficial for you if you…

  • Are ready for a change
  • Would like to explore the challenges and strengths of your ADHD mind
  • Feel stuck in a job or in an aspect of your life
  • Are having trouble with work or personal relationships
  • Struggle with ADHD and performing tasks
  • Find yourself spiraling or ruminating over experiences for long periods of time
  • Know where you want to be, but do not know how to get there
  • Would like help with completing tasks in your life that have left you stumped so far
  • Would benefit from a creative partner
  • Find it helpful to talk things out
  • Need compassionate support in your life
  • Would benefit from practical personalized systems to help with ADHD in daily life
  • Are struggling in the parenting role
  • Have challenges in your family that you would like resolved
  • Are open to change
  • Are willing to be introspective

How long does a Coach work with an individual?

The length of time a person works with a coach varies from person to person. I recommend for all of my clients that they plan on a minimum of 3 months’ worth of coaching to make a difference in their lives. Coaching is not a “quick fix” and requires changes to settle in the mind and body over time.

Are your services virtual or in person?

Coaching services are offered virtually via Zoom or by phone nationwide. Locally, services are offered in person.

What are your office hours?

I offer coaching M-F 10:00am to 8:00pm (Pacific Time Zone) and sometimes on the weekends. When it is time to schedule your sessions, you will be provided a link to my calendar to view my availability during these times. If there is another time you prefer, you can always contact me directly.

What does the Coach do? What does the Client do?

As your coach, I am your partner on your journey of self-discovery. We explore what you bring to the session. As the client, you would be responsible for coming to our coaching session each week with a topic of self-exploration and a desired outcome for the session. You would also be responsible for noticing what you experience during the week after our session together.

What does a Coaching session look like?

Although each session brings different discoveries and involves different conversations, every session will have the same general structure. It is your responsibility as the client to bring a topic each week to the coaching session about what you want to work on and what outcome you hope to achieve. We then spend the session exploring this topic, or together determine a different topic for the session. I will listen, ask guiding questions, reflect your thoughts for perusal and interpretation, provide consulting if you choose, and together work to achieve the outcome you desire.

How will I know coaching is working?

The answer to this question will be a personal one for you. Many clients know coaching is working because they feel better, or because they have a deeper understanding of themselves and notice more about themselves in the moment. Many clients with ADHD are better able to use their strengths to get tasks accomplished and are better able to manage emotional downward spirals. Some clients gain more clarity around their purpose and passions in life. The benefits to coaching are endless and depend upon the individual.

Why should you be my coach?

The most important aspect of Coaching is the connection between Coach and Client. It is important to find the right Coach for you. With that in mind, feel free to contact me for an initial consultation. I adhere to the most stringent professional ethical code and standards in the industry, that of the ICF (International Coaching Federation). My life experience and rigorous training inform my coaching process, as well as my intention to be present for my clients and hold a space of compassion and understanding for them.

What can I expect from the coaching process?

You can expect to:

  • Notice more about your daily life and have greater control over your decisions and emotions.
  • Have greater clarity about what matters to you in life
  • Access tools to help you through your struggles
  • Learn about yourself
  • Approach problem-solving from a different angle
  • View relationships with a clearer lens
  • Have peace and harmony in your family
  • Harness the power of your ADHD
  • Learn to walk through life with intention
  • And much more…

I believe that the power to achieve the life you want resides within you. As your coach, I am your ally, your partner and compassionate support during this journey of self-discovery. Let’s find your inner strengths and talents to help you pursue the life you desire.
